Some thoughts I have. Kinda like a late pseudo new years resolution~
Anyway, I showed my eldest brother (who rarely looks at my art) my gallery here. When I realized that the majority of the things in it are for other people. He said a few things like, "You made all of these characters up?" "You should have made that one this color" or "That one looks too cute" "Why does it have glasses?" "Whats the scarf for?" "Weird, you never used to draw them like that"
I asked for his honest opinion so wasn't offended or anything but, the things he critiqued me "negatively" on were mainly the things I did for other people. I hardly drew my own characters or even personal work in 2012 o_0 So uh, I'd like to change that this year. Don't get me wrong, I love to paint things for other people but I think its time that I start doing my own thing

I wont be doing so many art trades, if I do I'll likely be the one asking

I've traded with pretty much anyone, regardless of skill level in the past. Sorry to say that I can't be doing that now, its a lot of work and very time consuming to do them. I'll probably accept a trade if the artist asking is good at what they do. I've had enough times where I put my heart and soul into a full piece in return for something rushed or half-assed. Not that everyone I've traded with has done that but I'm sure there are other artists who've had the same experience
This way, I'll have more time to work on my comic or make tutorials on youtube or whatever. I won't say what I have planned because I might not be doing it in the end... well, maybe just a cloud, landscape and a wing tutorial

I'm not a professional at all but I get comments on these things most so, I'd like to try and share my knowledge there
So yeah, there's my goal for the year~
Best of luck! It's actually a good goal!
I'm planning on doing the opposite
I always tend to shut down collabs and commissions, because I wanted to focus on drawing my own things! But I've just about run out of ideas...so hopefully drawing things for others will help occupy myself until I find something that sparks an interest!
...by the way...Will you do speed paintings? (she asks with big hazel puppy dog eyes that you just hopefully CAN'T resist)
Thanks, and yeah trading or commissions are always a good way to inspire new ideas ^^ I guess I'm just tired of having to draw things a certain way that's acceptable to the commissioner or trade partner
*will go work on that now* ^^
Yeah.. commissioning can be a bum I s'pose. All the standards and what not...
I'm glad you're doing some of your own work and am looking forward to seeing it!
Your work is badass, btw XD I love everything you do 8D
But yeah art teachers like that are awesome ^^ and I'm happy you think that, thank you xDD
He's a very awesome instructor XD but he wants to slap me sometimes because of my own negativity lolol
Welcomeness~
